Privacy Policy — OptiLab

Overview

OptiLab ("we", "us") provides software that helps you and, optionally, your clinician interpret laboratory results for educational purposes. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. OptiLab is not a covered entity under HIPAA, but we treat your information with care appropriate to its sensitivity.

Information we collect

Account information: email address, display name, and authentication identifiers.
Lab data you upload: the contents of any PDFs, images, or values you submit, including biomarkers and dates of collection.
Profile context: optional details (age, sex, medications, goals) you provide to tailor your report.
Usage data: standard logs, device info, and analytics events about how you use the site.
Payment data: handled by Stripe; we never store full card numbers.

How we use information

To generate and display your educational lab interpretation.
To enable practitioners you've connected with to view your reports.
To process payments, send receipts, and operate the service.
To improve product quality, detect abuse, and meet legal requirements.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your uploaded lab data to train third-party AI models.

Sharing

We share information with infrastructure providers that power OptiLab (hosting, database, email delivery, payments, and AI inference) under contracts that limit their use to operating the service. We share your reports with practitioners only when you've explicitly accepted a link.

Your choices

You can request export or deletion of your account data at any time.
You can revoke a practitioner's access from your account at any time.
You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in any email. Transactional emails (receipts, security) cannot be turned off while your account is active.

Security & retention

We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We retain data for as long as your account is active or as needed to comply with legal obligations.

Children

OptiLab is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account or upload data for a minor without consent from a parent or legal guardian.
